To unlock all content in the A&E apps and website, you'll need to have a Hulu + Live TV plan. A Hulu Basic plan does not provide access to locked episodes and sign in may not work as expected without Live TV included on your Hulu account. If you have a basic Hulu plan, you can either upgrade your package with Hulu or you can watch unlocked episodes from A&E.
